Cobra® IntakePro(TM) Rooftop Intake Vent

Latest News: GAF Introduces Cobra® IntakePro(TM) Rooftop Intake Vent

Many homes have poor or inadequate attic ventilation systems, which can be attributed to improper attic intake ventilation – and without proper intake ventilation, attic ventilation systems can be useless. At Home Improvement Guyz we use GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, with varieties of ventilation solutions, including the new Cobra® IntakePro™ Rooftop Intake Vent. The Cobra® IntakePro™ Rooftop Intake Vent is a smart choice for homeowners because it promotes energy efficiency and helps guard the roof system against rot, ice damming, mold and mildew growth. The attic ventilation airflow can be improved by up to 20% when properly installed with existing soffit/undereave vents that are properly balanced for the ventilation system. With the exception of new construction when working with an existing home proper intake ventilation can be complicated, expensive process due to the home’s architecturual design, and may require additional carpentry work. This new Cobra® IntakePro™ Rooftop Intake Vent eliminates the need for alterations at the soffit, rolls out and is fastened with 1 ¾“ long nails and is both versatile and durable. It has also been fully tested under strict standards to withstand the impact of wind-driven rain, snow, and potential ice-dam infiltration.

Latest News: The Benefits of Recycling Asphalt Shingles

In many cases, recycling roofing is more cost effective than dumping. Recycling old asphalt for roads reduces the need for new oil, which could result in less dependence on foreign oil. In addition, recycling the mineral part helps conserve natural resources. Besides the environmental benefits, recycling saves everyone money. Recycled pavement can be reclaimed multiple times, which minimizes the use of new materials and helps preserve landfill space. Asphalt is one of the most recycled most materials in North America. It’s the main ingredient used in the construction of 80% of house hold roofs and 94% of the roads in the continental United States. A typical asphalt shingle is made from a variety of items like sand, glass, limestone, and asphalt and it’s 100% recycled. On the roof in the form of a shingle it is strong and adaptable. This service is not available everywhere however shingle recycling is gaining popularity and is currently offered in some form in most all states. Shingles, felt, or other asphaltic underlayment, nails, and flashing can all be recycled except when mixed with rotted wood. Separating materials may require a little more time and money on the job site. After the material makes it through the grinder, the recycling yard use a magnet to remove the nails and recycle them. The average is an amazing 15 pounds of nails to every ton of shingles recycled. At Home Improvement Guyz we recycle all our asphalt shingle roof replacement and strongly encourage roofing recycling.
